Looking forward to delicious Christmas food!

New skills..

When this second period started I didn't really know what to expect but I hoped that I would learn something new and exiting. Creating my own portfolio and blog has been very interesting. After this period I'm more confident in using computer and web. When I write my blog I have the possibility to share my ideas to other students and even to people I have never met.

I think I will continue writing my blog after this period because it's fun and a great way to express thoughts. Since I'm from Espoo but now living in Rauma, writing a blog is a good way to keep in touch with my friends from Espoo and they can read about my experiences here in Rauma. I have also learned new things about myself through blogging because when I'm writing a post I have to know how to express thoughts inside my head into writing. All in all creating a blog and portfolio has been very teaching and valuable experince!

Only ten days until Christmas!

An interesting article - Weblogs: Learning in Public

I read an article called "Weblogs: Learning in Public" which was written by Jill Walker, a teacher from University of Bergen, Norway. The article was about blogging in the web. I found the whole article very interesting, especially the real life examples of students' experiences about blogging. The whole article got me thinking a lot about my own writing in the web and the contents of social media. The teacher who wrote the article compared downloading music and blogging to plagiarism. I think this was very important point because we have to be very careful that we use the references properly in our school assignments. I have learned a lot about plagiarism in school this year and at least I'm paying much more attention to referencing now than I used to.

The writer of the article said that blogging can be the same for brains than going to the gym is for body. I agree in this because I think it's very refreshing to write about my thoughts and feelings every once in a while. Even though right now there are not many readers on my blog I don't really mind that other people read my text. Even so, I think about what I can write on the net because I don't want to put anything negative or unnecessary about anyone. Learning about blogging and doing it myself has been an entirely new experience for me but so far I've had only positive feelings towards it.

End of the fall semester!

This is the last week before Christmas break from school! This fall has gone really fast because so much has happened. First of all I got to know other students in my class, the school building and the city of Rauma. We've also had many student parties and fun activities for example floor ball tournament.

We still have presentation for Final Report and exam about Finnish law but after that it's time for Christmas food, presents and resting. Although I'm really looking forward to the holiday I am always enthusiastic of the spring semester that will start in January. After a nice break I'll have energy to study hard and learn many new things.
